Belarusian citizenship granted to 262 people by latest presidential decree

Belarusian citizenship has been granted to 262 people, including 26 minors. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed relevant decree No.330 on 19 October, BelTA has learned.
Since the president gave an instruction to grant Belarusian citizenship to Ukrainian citizens at a meeting with representatives of the media community on 9 August 2021, Belarusian citizenship has been acquired by 6,814 citizens of Ukraine according to various legal reasons. Apart from that, in this period Belarusian citizenship was granted to 2,990 people, who came from other countries.
At the same time the head of state turned down citizenship applications filed by a number of foreign citizens, who had repeatedly broken Belarusian laws during their stay in Belarus.
