Belarusian dairy exported to 50 countries
Maria Klimova stressed that thanks to the attention of the government to the agricultural industry and its modernization, milk processing enterprises have turned into automated modern complexes with high production standards with closed-loop technological processes and quality control systems. This made it possible to certify products for sale, including to foreign markets. “Today they manufacture products that are in demand in many countries around the world," she said.
According to the Agriculture and Food Ministry, Belarusian agricultural products are exported to more than 100 countries, and milk - to more than 50. Maria Klimova took note of the high profitability of dairy products and the growing demand for them in the world. “Belarus is ramping up both production and export potential," she added. “In January-September we increased the export of dairy products by almost 30%. This is no less than $570 million." Of the total volume of dairy products made in the country, about 40% remains on the domestic market, the rest goes abroad. Belarus' demand is only 237kg of milk per capita per year, while the production is 841kg per capita.
"Our geography of supplies is 50 countries. Almost 88% goes to CIS countries, neighboring countries as consumption traditions are similar in the former USSR countries," Maria Klimova said.
According to her, Belarus has recently stepped up the supply of dairy products to Asian countries, China. Of the new exotic destinations are the states of Africa. "We have tapped two new destinations this year - Niger and Ghana. Our deliveries successfully reach Africa. Our products are successfully gaining a foothold in new markets, find new consumers. Moreover, we can maintain the delta of profits and be competitive in terms of price when supplying our products to Africa. Of course, the volumes are still insignificant, but the trends are there ,” Maria Klimova noted.
