Belarusian Gomselmash to demonstrate CNG harvester in Hannover

GOMEL, 23 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian mechanical engineering company Gomselmash will present an innovative product – the world’s first environmentally friendly harvester powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) Palesse GS 418 CNG – during the agricultural machinery expo Agritechnica 2019 in Hannover, Germany on 10-16 November, BelTA has learned.
The unique Gomselmash harvester will be put on display in the exhibition complex Deutsche Messe.
Instead of a regular fuel tank the harvester is fitted with eight gas bottles with the capacity of 1,816 liters. They can contain 400m3 of compressed methane gas. The gas bottles are made of extremely durable carbon fiber, which is more reliable than metal. It takes 15 minutes to fully refuel the harvester and the amount of gas is enough for an eight-hour shift.
Switching machines and vehicles to gas fuel is a global trend. Gomselmash believes that Palesse GS 418 CNG follows global ecological trends: the use of methane as fuel can reduce toxic emissions into the environment by 2-3 times and reduce fuel costs by 40%. The harvester model meets the latest European emission standards Stage V.
The harvester uses a classic scheme for grain threshing and separation. It is designed to harvest spiked cereals, sunflower, corn, leguminous and cereal crops, colza, and grass seed plants.
The Belarusian holding company Gomselmash is one of the largest manufacturers of agricultural machines. It is one of the leaders on the world market of harvesters and other complicated agricultural machines. The company uses the Palesse trademark to market lineups of grain and forage harvesters, ear corn harvesters, potato harvesters, mowers, and other agricultural machines. Palesse harvesters are used in fields of Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Czechia, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Argentina, Brazil, China, South Korea, Baltic states, and other countries. Gomselmash operates an extensive distribution chain, joint ventures, and assembly enterprises.
